About
Well hello sir! My name is James Spafford, and this is my blog, which is mostly about Videogames, although possibly also about other random things - my writing, my adventures in food, my work, my cats, wasps - whatever takes my fancy really. But mostly Videogames.

Above: Me, being a ghost… also my lovely girlfriend Rusalka being shifty eyed.
I work at NCsoft Europe in Creative Concepts, a small team set up to work on all the things we thought we should be doing as a company, but that no one had time to do. A think tank of sorts, we produce projects which fall outside of the ʻnormalʼ marketing, PR or community activities and that generally aim to help us appear to be less of a faceless corporation, and inject fun and creativity into our output. Additionally we work internally to improve communication between departments, and enhance general employee well-being. We also drink a lot of coffee.
Stephen Reid is the manager of Creative Concepts, he’s also a good friend and has been a valuable mentor. He has a blog over here that may give you some better insight into my working life.
If you were to allow the ghost of internet past to haunt you with visions of my internet past, you would be able to watch me co-build two fine web communities. The first started as a homepage project in 1997, and blossomed into a central hub for the LucasArts adventure community - The International House of Mojo. As time grew by, I moved on and co-founded Idle Thumbs, an award nominated cult editorial and reviews games site with a focus on quality subjective output, and a community more ʻmatureʼ than the average internet forum.
The other co-conspirators of Thumbs / Mojo are absolutely incredible people, and really worth paying attention to. You can check their blogs out in the sidebar link list over there under ‘the others’. I may talk about them in the blog sometimes, especially Marek who now lives up the road from me.
I’m sure that’s all really fascinating to you, I wish I had prepared a pamphlet. Well that’s what you get for wanting to find out more I guess!
